About Emergency Mental Health
Located at 10-42 Mitchell Ave, Binghamton, NY 13903, Emergency Mental Health operates as a psychiatric hospital serving Binghamton in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
This group holds listings that did not fit cleanly into a dental, medical, community-care or supplier category, mostly businesses that were pulled in next to a dental office in the same building or that combine several kinds of service. The details here come from the public listing rather than a curated write-up, so treat the category label loosely and check the business's own hours and services before visiting.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is Open 24 hours. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Emergency Mental Health at (607) 762-2302; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
Its Google rating stands at 1.7 out of 5 from 16 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.
Binghamton is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Binghamton peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I've been here several times and they don't do anything for you. They ask what brought you in you explain it and they don't want to here it. Instead they give you drugs and they don't work either.

Told we'd be seen around 11. It is now almost 3am. The ER staff at UHS Binghamton? Absolutely fantastic. Haven't seen hide nor hair of anyone from CPEP though. Forgot to mention: were told they "operate" on their own schedule.

I hated it, the people there made me super uncomfortable since I was the only person under 18, they need to have a separate area for minors so that people don't harm or make them uncomfortable. I've been looked at by men and women old enough to be my parents while I was in a gown, the staff has always been sweet to me and it can be very helpful in a crisis. There have been other patients who were super sweet but the constant yelling between adults in a space makes it an unsafe environment when the people would try to get physical or even intimate with each other. It has a long way to go especially with how slow the process is to be admitted, transported and treated.

I once was begged to stay and few years later, I came back and tried to be admitted and they would not take me. I have heard nothing but good things about the staff in the doctors there I highly suggest anybody going through a mental health crisis get to where they will help you! Sometimes we all need a break

In the year 2022 I was at this hospital for about 35 days in those 35 days I learned quite a bit about the ins and outs of the place the staff are extremely overworked and taken advantage of with their constant mandates and because of being understaffed I was switching therapists every week which extended my stay because of the inconsistency and in a lot of ways the staff there helped me more than my therapists did although my overall experience there was bad I would suggest looking into thier crisis respit before admitting to cpep itβs a lot more relaxed and gives you more freedom my only other complaint is I felt like medicines were being shoved down my throat because when I went to outpatient my therapist told me that there was never a clear concise diagnosis and it was a βband aidβ fix

Not a good experience. Felt like a number, waited hours to see a "therapist" who didn't listen to me and discredited my experiences for about 15 minutes then gave me a referral to a counselor who had no idea how to deal with my mental illness.

Emergency mental health in this community is run by UHS so there for it is run by corporation. No matter what corporation it is any corporations main goal is to make as much money as they can. UHS's main goal is to push as many pharmaceuticals on their patients as they can so that they can make as much money as they can. Notice how rarely you'll see any private practices anymore. Many of these doctors have been sued and put out of business because of Medical malpractice. UHS like many other corporate hospitals have thought of a way around this by prescribing as many pharmaceuticals as they can. All and all it just adds to an endless cycle of drug addiction and mental illness.

I just want to say that this program is a Godsend. Even though I had to wait countless hours to be seen....it was worth every minute. Charles in the CPEP department is one of the kindest, most understanding people that I have ever met in the healthcare field. Don't let the wait deter you, they will truly help you to find your way.
